The shoe released in the United States on October 4th, 2013 as "Who You Gonna Call?". It is available in most Nike Brand retailers, including Niketown. Nike released the shoe in honor of the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters.

The shoe is an homage to one of Nike's earliest running shoes, designed by Bruce Kilgore and introduced in 1979 as the "Ghost" training shoe. The shoe was not widely marketed and its only three launch colorways sold out quickly. It was known for a double-density EVA midsole that gave it a high performance ride at an affordable price point. The shoe was discontinued after the first year of production, however, it was re-released a decade later in 1997.

The shoe is also known as "Foamposite" when referring to one of Nike's most popular basketball shoes with the print and designer, who took the name from the shoe.

Shoe makes verbal reference to: [to use as knowledge, not to be copied verbatim] that is not exactly true; it does not have anything to do with ghosts but rather it's an acronym for "Field of Dreams". It uses a mythical tale to create its own mythology, parodying the idea of "fooling the eye". The shoe also takes a jab at Nike's "swoosh" logo by using the phrase "who you gonna call". This is also a pun on the phrase "Who You Gonna Call?", as is "Gone In 60 Seconds" which refers to an old car manufacturer.
